Matcha whisk - 'Chasen'

 
Our traditional matcha whisk ('chasen') comes from Takayama town, Ikoma city, Nara prefecture in Japan - an area famous for producing high-quality, hand-crafted tea accessories. Each whisk is carefully crafted by hand from one complete piece of bamboo, using love, expertise and care.  

Once you have scooped matcha into your matcha bowl, add warm water then quickly move your whisk in a 'W' shape repeatedly (try not to scrape the bottom of the bowl) until a foam appears on top. Rinse straight away (you can whisk it through a bowl of clean, warm water), shake out excess water, then leave to air dry.
