Where do you source your tea from?

Sourcing high quality tea is incredibly important to us. To help us make this happen we source directly from tea gardens and also partner with a small number of trusted wholesalers. We source from gardens who focus on low volume, high quality teas, rather than high volume, mass produced tea. We receive our precious leaves from tea producing nations across the world – from the more well-known regions such as China, India, Japan and Sri Lanka, to the lesser known tea areas such as Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam and Taiwan - and even New Zealand.

What types of tea appears in the subscription box?

We focus on high grade, single origin tea and will include tea from the six different categories – white, green, yellow, oolong, black and dark – in our subscription boxes. There are between 2,000 and 3,000 different types of tea produced across the world, so we hope you will always something interesting and exciting on your doorstep. One month you might open your box to find a Gyokuro green tea from Japan and a high grown black tea from Sri Lanka, the next you might find a Da Hong Pao oolong from China alongside a hand-crafted black tea from Malawi. Soon, you’ll be as excited about tea as we are!

Do you include herbal tea?

Our expertise lies in pure tea – that is, tea made with leaves from the Camellia Sinensis plant (the tea bush). We don’t provide herbal infusions, flavoured teas and rarely blended teas - there are many great companies that do those so well already. Find out here why herbal tea isn't actually tea!

Are your teas organic?

Our teas will be a variety of non-organic and organic teas. We are always on the look-out for high quality, organic teas and many growers are now changing their techniques in response to consumer demand for organic products. When we are able to source organic teas, they will be clearly labelled. Many small growers often maintain their tea bushes without the use of pesticides, however can’t obtain formal organic certification for logistical or financial reasons. You may see a description such as ‘pesticide free’ in these cases. When sourcing our tea, we will always seek as much information as we can about how the tea is grown so we can pass this on to you.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Our precious tea leaves are easily affected by light, air, humidity, moisture, smells so we use the best packaging - foil pouches - to make sure they arrive to you in the best condition. Our pouches cannot be recycled using council recycling, but you can add them to the soft plastics collection often found at your supermarket. Alternatively you can re-use them for other purposes or keep them so you have a record of the tea you have tried. Our boxes are made out of cardboard and vegetable ink and these can be recycled.

Do you follow a food safety process?

Absolutely. Handling our tea in a way that ensures it is safe for you to consume is very important to us. Our food safety system has been assessed by Telarc Ltd and meets the requirements for a HACCP based food safety system. You can see our most recent food safety certificate here.

MONTHLY TEA SUBSCRIPTION:

When will I receive my subscription box?

Your very first subscription box is sent as soon as you purchase it. Our courier's target is to get this to you within 2 – 3 working days or 3 – 5 working days if you are rural. All subsequent subscription boxes are sent in the first week of each month following.

If you purchase your first subscription after the 10th of the month, rather than receiving your second box only two weeks later, we’ll skip the next month (and that month’s charge), and you will receive the second box the month following. For example, if you purchase your subscription on the 15th December, you will receive your first box a few days later, then your second box in the first week of February.

When will my credit card be charged?

The monthly subscription fee will be taken out of your account late on the 1st of every month.

Can I skip a month or pause my subscription?

You can skip deliveries by logging on to your account (via the person icon on the top right side of our homepage) and selecting ‘Manage subscriptions’, then ‘Delivery schedule’ and here you will be able to skip a month or more. Or you can email us. Our system doesn't have a 'pause' function unfortunately.

How can I cancel my subscription?

We love happy, tea-drinking customers so we’d love to hear from you before you cancel to see if there’s anything we can do to keep you supplied with great tea – you can contact us here. But, if you really must leave us, you can log on to your account (via the person icon on the top right side of our homepage) and select ‘Manage subscriptions’ and here you will be able to cancel your subscription. Please notify us by the 27th of the prior month if you wish to cancel your subscription.

What happens if I don't like the tea I receive?

With our subscription boxes, we send out two different teas every month and this gives you the chance to experiment and learn about the different flavour profiles. We hope that you will enjoy all the teas that you try, but we understand some may not be to your taste. If this happens, we would love you to gift the tea to a friend or family member who may enjoy it as we cannot accept returns due to individual taste preferences. If your product is damaged, please see our Returns policy
