BLACK TEA: Red Plum 2023, China
Red Plum
Black tea, China
Flavour: malt, pine, mineral, molasses - full-bodied
Red Plum is grown and crafted in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province in China. It is a unique tea as it is crafted from the Long Jing cultivar of the tea plant Camellia Sinensis, usually reserved for green tea.
Red Plum infuses into a full-bodied tea with a malty, wood and biscuity profile, hints of molasses and a rocky minerality in the tail. It is a lively tea with a pleasant bite.
Spring 2023 harvest.
Please note, this is a new harvest (2023) to our previous Red Plum (2021) and has a different flavour profile - less sweetness and more astringency.
Preparation: Steep for 3 minutes at 100°. Two infusions.
Infusions: specialty tea leaves can all be steeped at least twice, and often more, so each 3 gram serve (150 mls - a standard teacup size), will give you two cups ('infusions') if you steep the leaves twice. On the back of your pouch under 'Steep', you can find the number of infusions for your tea.
