Product Focus: Genmaicha

This is one of my favourite green teas!

Genmaicha a traditional Japanese tea blend of green tea leaves and roasted rice.

'Genmai' = 'roasted/brown rice', 'Cha' = 'tea'.

In Japan it's affectionately known as 'popcorn tea', but I think in New Zealand we could call it 'rice bubble tea' because whenever I steep Genmaicha, the infusion always reminds me of rice bubbles.

Genmaicha been a staple in my kitchen pantry, and on my website, for 7 years.

I love how the roasted rice softens the vibrancy of the sencha green tea leaves. It makes it a comforting, easy-to-drink, moreish tea - more mellow that a typical Japanese green tea.

I have small 20g pouches of my 2025 harvest Genmaicha Premium on my website for a short time.

These are great if you haven't tried Genmaicha before and want to before investing in a larger pack.
