This 2020 ‘ripe’ pu-erh tea is made entirely of leaf buds, harvested from Mang Fei Mountain, Lincang, Yunnan – China’s home province of pu’erh tea. 

Ripe pu-erh teas are processed in a similar way to green tea, then fermented in a warm, humid environment for 40 – 50 days, which dramatically transforms the leaf colour and flavour. This particular tea is fermented in bags for more than 60 days, then rolled into large balls. 

When infused, the leaves release deep, moody notes – wet autumn leaves, spent coffee grounds, molasses, leather. Each ball yields multiple infusions.
