description

Cold-brewed tea creates a refreshing, smooth and delicious summertime drink.

When tea is steeped in cold water, the level of caffeine and astringency in your cup is reduced, creating a cold tea that is lighter in body, slightly sweeter, smoother and more mellow than its hot-steeped counterpart.

For our cold-brew tea box, Anna has selected four of teas that work beautifully steeped in cold water:

Red Plum, Black tea, China
Flavour: caramelised sugar, dark chocolate, malt ~ lush & decadent
Red Plum is grown and crafted in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province in China. It is a unique tea as it is crafted from the Long Jing cultivar of the tea plant Camellia Sinensis, usually reserved for green tea.

Himalayan Beauty, oolong tea, Nepal
Flavour: floral, fruity, wood
This open-leaf, tippy oolong is a 2023 Spring harvest from the mountainous tea-growing district of Ilam in Nepal. Ilam sits at a similar altitude to the famous tea region, Darjeeling, just across the border in India.

Lumbini Golden Breakfast, black tea, Sri Lanka
Flavour: malt, wood, spice, caramel  ~ full -bodied
This tea is made with broken ‘orange pekoe’ leaves and a sprinkle of golden leaf buds, hand-harvested on 22 September 2025. Lumbini is a Sri Lankan family-run tea company. Their gardens lie in the Lumbini Tea Valley, located high in the hills in Southern Sri Lanka, surrounded by 25,000 hectares of virgin rainforest. Lumbini’s focus on sustainable tea practices and artisan craftmanship means it produces some of the countries most exceptional teas.

Hojicha basic roast, roasted green tea, Japan
Flavour: roasted nuts, tobacco, peat smoke ~ medium bodied
Hojicha is a roasted Japanese green tea made with mature leaves and stalks. The roasting process creates the warm brown colour of the leaves, its roasty notes and the stalks add a touch of sweetness. Hojicha has a low caffeine content.

Each tea is 20-grams (1 gram of tea per 100mls water - the same leaves can be cold brewed multiple times). The teas are packaged in our small gift box.

The gift box includes a card to introduce the box to the gift recipient, instructions on how to cold-brew the teas, and our tea steeping and tasting guide. And of course, the teas can all be hot-steeped too!

Instructions:

1. Use approximately 1 gram of dry tea leaves per 50mls of cold, filtered water (you can also use left-over leaves you have already hot-steeped).

2. Add the leaves to a cup, teapot, jug or jar (either in an infuser net or loose), pour the water over, cover or put the lid on, then place in the fridge overnight or for 10 – 12 hours.

3. Strain and serve. You can add a sweetener such as honey, allulose or sugar if you wish (stir vigorously).

Serve your cold-brewed tea chilled, with ice or leave it out and enjoy it at room temperature. Add garnishes of sliced fruit and edible flowers.
