This 2020 first class Spring matcha was harvested in processed in May 2020, using leaves from two family tea farms in Kagoshima, southern Japan.
It has a beautiful creamy mouthfeel with fresh notes of green vegetables and hints of seaweed and nut.
To create matcha, the tea plants are shaded before harvest. This process intensifies the chlorophyll content, its ‘umami’ flavour, and the helpful amino acid L-theanine. After plucking, the leaves are steamed, their veins and stems removed, then dried before being ground by a stone mill into a fine powder.
Certified organic by Kagoshima Organic Agriculture Association (KOAA).
Preparation: Whisk 1/4 - 1/2 tsp in 100mls hot water (60 - 80). Or, to create a matcha frappe: blend or shake ¼ - ½ teaspoon of matcha with 200mls milk of your choice (we like almond).
