description
These three white teas from China are a lovely expression of white tea. To create a white tea, tea makers simply pluck then dry leaves from the Camellia Sinensis tea plant. It is the least processed of all of the six types of tea.

When you open each pouch, breathe in the scent of the leaves, then admire the diversity in leaf shape and colour.  White tea is the perfect tea to enjoy either hot or cold steeped out in the garden on a summer afternoon.

To make it easy for you or your gift recipient to brew the perfect cup of tea, you can choose to upgrade this box to include our tea glass infuser and long handled tea spoon, which comes packaged in our large gift box (select size 'Large' above).

The teas currently in our white tea taster box are:

Early Spring Sun-dried Wild Buds, China
Rose petals, lavender, melon, sundried hay, soft and delicate
Start your experience by opening this pouch and breathing the floral perfume of these beautiful tea buds in through your nose. They not only smell like rose petals, but the soft, layered buds look just like a rose that is about to bloom. This 2019 early-Spring harvest white tea has a soft, floral body and hints of honeydew, watermelon and a touch of sun-dried hay.

Wild Purple Moonlight, China
Dried rose petals blackcurrant, hint of honeysuckle
The dark purple hues in these leaves indicate the presence of the beneficial antioxidant Anthocyanin, also found in other purple fruit and vegetables, which adds a lovely berry sweetness to the tea, as well as a deeper colour to the liquor. Harvested from wild-growing tea plants in the mountainous area of Hong Ni Tang village in south west China, this delightful 2019 spring harvest white tea emits a fragrance and flavour of dried rose petals and blackcurrant with a sweet hint of honeysuckle nectar.

Snow Fuzz, China
Sweet, savoury, soft and silky
In the small town of Ning’er in southwest Yunnan, these fresh, spring leaves were plucked from the Camellia Sinensis tea plant cultivar affectionately known as White Tea Snow Fuzz. This fascinating tea has characteristics of both a white and green tea. The dry leaves smell like pine needles and hay on a warm summer day. Once infused, the leaves emit a fragrance of freshly picked zucchini and cream corn. Once sipped, the flavour softens into a light-bodied tea with a soft vegetal body and a smooth and silky mouthfeel. The savoury notes of the tea deepen on subsequent infusions. February 2019 harvest.

Each tea is 20 grams and the leaves can be steeped at least twice. The box includes a little note card to introduce the box to the gift recipient as well as our tea steeping and tasting guide.
