Our rarest tea
Our rarest tea
WILD SWEET YA BAO
White tea, China
Watermelon, honeysuckle, rose, papaya
Wild Sweet Ya Bao is the rarest and most expensive tea in our collection. To create this incredible, highly-prized tea, freshly emerged leaf buds are plucked by hand from tea trees that grow wild in the mountainous region of Jinggu County, Yunnan province, Southern China. The leaves of these trees have a reddish-purple hue, due to the presence of the antioxidant anthocyanin within the leaves (also found in blueberries, blackcurrants, pomegranate another other purple and red fruit and vegetables).
The plump, feathery tea buds smell of sweet, sugary, dried papaya and apricot. The steeped tea tastes like watermelon, honeysuckle and rose petals. You can steep this tea many times and continue to be rewarded with sweet, summer-time flavours. Once you have finished hot steeping the leaves, immerse them in cold water and put them in the fridge over night to create a cool, refreshing tea for the following day.
Only 15kgs of this tea has been produced by the tea farmer, a tiny quantity in tea producing terms, making it very rare and sought-after.
We only have a very small amount of this wonderful tea and have packaged it in our signature tea box, making it a special treat for yourself or someone special.
Each box contains 10 grams of Wild Sweet Ya Bao, and the leaves can be steeped multiple times. The box includes a little note card to introduce the box to the gift recipient as well as our tea steeping and tasting guide.
To make it easy for you or your gift recipient to brew the perfect cup of this tea, you can choose to upgrade this box to include our tea glass infuser and long handled tea spoon, which comes packaged in our large gift box.
