Oolong tea sit right in the middle of the six types of tea. Fragrant and full of intrigue, oolong tea can surprise and delight a tea drinker. 

For our oolong taster box, we have selected two light oolongs from Taiwan and two dark oolongs from Taiwan and China, each with unique flavour profiles, to temp your tastebuds and help you discover which type of oolong is your favourite.

The teas currently in our oolong taster box are:

Wenshan Bao Zhong, Taiwan
Honeysuckle, sweet milk, peach, vegetal undertones
Wenshan Bao Zhong is the lightest style of oolong tea produced in Taiwan. These handsomely twisted, jade-green leaves smell like panna cotta and cashew nut. Once infused, they reveal an incredible, long-lasting aroma and flavour of honeysuckle, peach, citrus and sweetened milk alongside vegetal undertones. This is a fragrant, sophisticated and refined tea. 2018 spring harvest.

Alishan Milk Oolong, Taiwan
Sweet milk, orchid
This Winter 2018 milk oolong comes from the Wang Ding tea garden, situated in the famous mountainous region of Ali Shan, a protected area where many high altitude, high quality teas are grown. These bead-like leaves infuse into a pale-yellow liquor with a sweet milk and orchid aroma and flavour. This is a lovely light tea that works well using both hot and cold brew techniques.

GABA teas have a high concentration of gamma-aminobutyric acid which is said to help reduce anxiety and stress and induce calm. The GABA content also creates a baked sweet potato-like flavour, quite unique to other oolongs. This 2018 Spring harvest GABA has the signature sweet potato flavour alongside notes of toffee, butterscotch, honey and nut. Cassia Oolong, 'Roi Gui', China 
Cinnamon, dried fruit, apple, wood
Roi Gui is a unique oolong from the famous Wuyi Mountains in Fujian province, China. If steeped carefully, its leaves can be infused up to seven times, with each infusion rewarding you with different notes; think sweet spice, woody and fruity aromas alongside cinnamon, nut, apple, tree bark and dried fruit flavours. Roi Gui is known as ‘Cassia Oolong’ because of its distinctive cinnamon note, which sets it apart from other teas of its kind. Smooth and pleasant to drink, this is a very special tea.

Each tea is 20 grams and the leaves can be steeped at least twice. The box includes a little note card to introduce the box to the gift recipient as well as our tea steeping and tasting guide.
