All you need to create a tranquil end to your day.
The teas in our Wind Down box are:
Suzume 'Sparrow' Kukicha
Roasted green tea, Japan
Flavour: mocha, raw sugar, wood, apricot ~ ultra-light
Smooth and ultra-light in body, this Kukicha tea is made entirely from stems of summer harvest leaves. This tea reflects the ‘wholeness’ philosophy of Japanese Zen Buddhism where the tea farm uses the entire tea leaf without wasting any of its parts. The stems are steamed, dried then roasted, creating a rustic and mellow tea with aromas of baked apricot, caramelised sugar, mocha and wood. It is very low in caffeine. July 2020 harvest tea.
Amber Hojicha
Roasted green tea, Japan
Flavour: caramelised nut, firewood, maple ~ medium bodied, low caffeine
This special Hojicha tea is made with sencha leaves which are roasted; a process that transforms the leaves into a warm brown colour and changes their flavour. Amber Hojicha infuses into a deep amber-coloured tea with dark and moody notes of caramelised nut, firewood, tobacco and maple. Hojicha has a low caffeine content, making it the perfect choice for a relaxing, after-dinner drink.
Hoji-Genmaicha
Roasted green tea, Japan
Flavour: rice bubbles, charred wood, toffee ~ light-bodied, low caffeine
Hoji-Genmaicha is a blend of hojicha (roasted green tea) and roasted mochi brown rice. After harvest, leaves are steamed, rolled, dried and roasted, then blended with the roasted rice. The infused tea’s sweet and nutty fragrance draws you in. It is light in body and moreish with delicious notes of firewood, roasted nuts, toffee and rice bubbles. Its caffeine content is very low. This June 2021 harvest.
These teas come from Obubu Tea Farm, Kyoto Japan - an agricultural social venture with a strong focus on high-quality tea, community contribution and tea education.
